Okay all my brides to be... approach Pinterest with caution! I love it there are so many amazing things on there! I have so many boards on shoes, nails, hair, organization and so much more. I made the mistake of creating to many categories for my wedding. I have bridal hair, bridal veils, bridal makeup, bridal shoes, bridal dresses, purple centerpieces, coral centerpieces, cakes...etc. I find it hard to go back and forth to say I like this with this, but when they're beside each other I find myself saying, "what the hell was I thinking!" If you are like myself, then create all the boards you want and then sort through them deciding what you like the most and create your mega board entitled MY WEDDING! This way your pins are all together and you can see them side by side to determine if you truly want them together. If not start by creating 1 and only 1 board of the things you like and delete, replace, add, re-pin as needed rather than scattering across all your boards to find things. Pinterest is a great tool and I highly suggest you use it to help you gather a rounded idea of what you would like. There is more out there than the "traditional" wedding. You never know a modern, rustic, themed...etc. could work for you. Happy pinning!

The Venue....
At this point Kalos Salon de Eventos was the only venue willing to allow us to go and look at the place right then and there. We saw both Venues, beginning with Kalos, and then the Corinthians and I did
what all the books say not to do... I fell in love with the first one I
saw! It was beautiful, romantic, elegant, and just everything I could
wish for! I knew I had to have it despite my mother and fiance telling
me we need to look at others. I asked for pricing and date availability.
Our date was available and even better because I made the decision to
go with a Friday rather than a Saturday the price was discounted about
5,000 dollars. Now I know you may be thinking oh my gosh, how much is
the venue!! We decided on a wedding of about 250 adults and 50 children. The venue manager was very kind presenting us with the various packages for various guest amounts. We chose the 300 package for $10,000.
I KNOW IT SOUNDS LIKE A LOT!! It is a lot, but as I said this is a package... Our package includes food, (appetizer, salad, and main entree, with tea or lemonade), the decorations, (tables, flower arrangements, center pieces, cake/gift tables and the bride and groom area) attendants (meseros) and the cake. Essentially it came with all the basics. All I would need is the invitations, music, video/photography, and the dress & tuxedo. For me that wasn't that bad of a deal although my mother almost had a heart attack with the price. I did have to talk with her because I was ready to sign the contract. I told her, "I am not asking for you to pay a dime. I am tired of every event we have you are always serving food, or refilling drinks, and worried about all the major and minor details." I just wanted this wedding to be something our parents and families could enjoy from the beginning to the end worry free. She still was hesitant but as soon as I saw that venue I just knew that is where I would have my wedding. I could see myself in a white wedding dress, Jake looking so handsome in his tuxedo, and our families having a great time at the wedding of my dreams.
I looked at Jake and told him I wanted this one, so he said "I like it so if this is what you want, let's get it." I was so happy to hear that! Jake and I signed on the dotted line and secured our date. I was so happy that all the basic details were being taken care of by others leaving us to attend to other necessities. The venue manager explained that we have an appointment set up for 3 months prior to the wedding to begin food and cake testing, and well as decor and floral designing. She explained that they are constantly getting newer and modern pieces to add to their decoration pieces so she prefers to wait till it is closer to the date to avoid constant changes. This was perfect to me because I would hate to make a decision now based on a magazine this month and fall in love with something else closer to the wedding and have them change it last minute. I felt great walking out, I knew I made the right decision.

Where to start... I am an RGV Bride
Now originally we had planned on a 2 year engagement, but in our hearts we knew we wanted to be husband and wife as quickly as possible while still having a "dream wedding." We knew this would be a hard task but together we can do anything! So first off choosing a date! Uh, let me just tell you if its in the year to come...this will be a difficult task. I had a long list of venues to look at ready to go, and a date in mind....Well we called a few outdoor venues asking if we could go scope out the place and gather some prices..."We're sorry you need to set up an appointment, I have one available in 4 weeks. How's that?" I was in disbelief, I have never planned a wedding nor witnessed a wedding being planned. I assumed I could just go look at the place. So venues were being scratched off as we called along because if I couldn't go see it I at least wanted to know if the date I had in mind was available, and nope so one by one they were getting scratched off. Then the last one on my list, Kalos Salon de Eventos, located in Mission, Texas was next. I was told over the phone, sure come on in we house 2 halls and you are more than welcome to come in and view them both. So we did.

The Engagment...
So my now husband-to-be Jake and I have been together for 6 years now. High school sweet hearts; inseparable since our junior year. He is everything you can ask for, caring, loving, strong, and always supportive. So when he proposed I took no time to think about it! I had known in my heart he was the one.
Here is how it happened...
My family had all come over to have a BBQ, we ate, we laughed, shared stories, and more as we always do. When everyone finished their meals we gathered in the living room to watch a newly released movie on T.V. About 20 min into the movie the next commercial came on and I turned to my fiance so he could skip forward but when I looked at him I heard his voice coming from the T.V. at this point I knew something was going on...He said, "Excuse the interruption but I have a very important question for Brittney." I was shocked I knew what was coming, when I turned to face him again he was on his knee asking, "Will you marry me?" Without a pause I said YES!! My family rejoiced and congratulated us with hugs and kisses not to mention the flashing of their cameras taking pictures left and right of the two of us and the ring.
The next morning I awoke with thoughts of it all being a dream... but then I looked at my ring and smiled, it was real! It was official my journey to be the Future Mrs. Perez had just begun...
